Career Progression

The Advisor role is an entry position into our business for people who have a passion for the field of family business. We use an apprenticeship model, with Advisors learning our concepts, methodologies and processes, and being given an increasing level of responsibility as their skills expand.

Advisors are expected to assist in the firm’s efforts to provide advisory services of the highest quality to family business clients. Our Advisors work closely with the Partners and other members of the firm in the design and delivery of client engagements. Advisors are also expected to take on significant internal roles to build and support key firm activities.

Senior Advisors structure and oversee client work modules, develop and maintain key client relationships, and mentor Advisors on client and internal projects. We use an apprenticeship model, with Senior Advisors learning our concepts, methodologies and processes, and being given an increasing level of responsibility as their skills expand.

Senior Advisors are expected to assist in the firm’s efforts to provide advisory services of the highest quality to family business clients. They work closely with the Partners and other members of the firm in the design and delivery of client engagements. Senior Advisors are expected to take on significant internal roles to build and support key firm activities.

Principals build and maintain client relationships and oversee projects and project teams. Principals support the growth and sustainability of the firm, becoming experts in several areas of our work, generating business opportunities with potential clients, and mentoring and training Senior Advisors and Advisors to excel in their external and internal roles at the firm.

Banyan’s Partners are its ownership group and management team. Partners not only build the firm by building new clients relationships, they also oversee project teams and long term client relationships and run the internal committees that make our firm function, such as marketing, intellectual capital development, training, and recruiting.
