Ana Resende
Senior Advisor

Ana Resende is a Senior Advisor at BanyanGlobal, specializing in strategy, operations, and human resources practices. She has deep operational and board experience, having served in key leadership positions at a large global business and as a board member of several companies. Over the course of her consulting career, Ana has led engagements for family and non-family businesses in a range of industries, including banking, insurance, media, telecom, private equity, raw materials, and consumer products.

Her interest in family businesses stems from her own family’s rich history. Both of her grandfathers were entrepreneurs who inspired a curiosity for learning and people in Ana from an early age. She credits her immense interest in and respect for family businesses to those early experiences. She has experienced firsthand how family businesses may take different paths, depending on decisions made during generational transitions. One of her family’s businesses was sold while her paternal grandfather was alive and continues to operate today, while the other ended her branch’s participation with the passing of her maternal grandfather.

Ana comes to Banyan after launching two successful start-ups in the agricultural sector for a billion-dollar multinational firm, where she was an executive leader in the areas of strategy, marketing, and finance for seven years. Prior to that, she worked as a strategy consultant and human resources lead for Value Partners, a spin-off of McKinsey & Company in Latin America. She also worked in operations for a mining company, where she was responsible for teams of 150 people in Minas Gerais.

Ana holds a mechanical engineering degree from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Brazil, an MBA from INSEAD in France, and a post-graduation from Fundação Getúlio Vargas in human resources. She is fluent in English and Portuguese and has a working knowledge of French and Italian.

Ana dedicates her free time to volunteer work and is always interested in learning and travelling to new locations, meeting people, and advocating for women and minorities. She lives in São Paulo, Brazil, with her husband, daughter, and son.
