The Value Added Trustee

Trustees must often navigate a complex web of interests. On one hand, they represent beneficiaries who have complicated, long-standing, and often charged relationships with other beneficiaries, executives, and family members which can be full of different interests and difficult emotions, driving high levels of conflict. Not surprisingly, this can lead to competing demands and challenging relationships for the trustee. On the other hand, the trustees owe fiduciary duties to the beneficiaries as a whole, and to the corporation and its shareholders. This is quite a tall demand.
