Senior Banyan Affiliate
Andy Bahnfleth has had a long career in private equity investing as an independent sponsor. He started his career with Tangram Partners, a private equity investment firm founded by two former Boston Consulting Group partners. The firm focused on helping portfolio companies develop and execute profitable growth strategies. Ultimately becoming a partner, Andy continued to work with Tangram principals through subsequent investment partnerships.
Throughout his career in private equity investment, Andy focused on lower middle-market manufacturing and manufacturing services businesses. He was involved in all phases of the investment process including sourcing, due diligence, investment management and sale. He both participated at the board level and worked hands-on with portfolio company teams to execute initiatives including product and market potential analyses, facility expansions, add-on acquisitions, ERM implementations and others. He works with Banyan as an independent consultant supporting our clients who can benefit from his expertise.
Andy grew up around a family-owned business, an engineering consultancy owned by his father and most of the portfolio companies he has worked closely with were founder led with varying degrees of family involvement. His experiences have given him an appreciation for both the rewards and challenges of family businesses.
He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, with Highest Honors. He also earned a Master of Management from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, with distinction. Andy lives with his wife and two daughters in Chicago, Illinois.
