Carlos Costa is an independent consultant who works with Banyan on individual projects where the client can benefit from their expertise and supports business development in Europe. Based in Barcelona, Carlos has extensive experience in management consulting, including particularly expertise in Consumer, Retail and Travel-Lodging. He has also worked closely with many family businesses over the years, particularly on issues related to Organizational development, Growth and Business Model Transformation. “Family businesses are great as they allow quick decision-making and offer the possibility to develop fruitful long-term relationships,” Costa observes.
Carlos was a senior partner and partner at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) for 25 years, where he led several Practices: Consumer & Retail, Transportation &Tourism and Pharmacy/Health at the Iberian Peninsula and was a key contributor to the Functional Marketing/Sales and Operations Practices. He has worked globally in Argentina, Brazil, South Korea, Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, Russia, and Turkey.
A graduate in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Barcelona, he also obtained an MBA from IESE Business School. More recently, he has participated in the Harvard-IESE course on Getting Value from Effective Boards. He is now a board-level Senior Advisor for large established family-owned multinationals, including a Dubai-based retailer and an international beauty and luxury group, as well as growth stage digital start-ups in Spain.
Carlos is the author of numerous articles, publications and conferences and recently has researched and published on strategy model changes needed for post covid19 timeline using scenario planning methodology. He enjoys art, culture, music and spends as much time on sports as possible, including cycling, skiing, and open sea swimming.
